Broncos' Joseph admits he needs to fix mistakes quickly after rough debut

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph could be on the hot seat with another trying season and knows he needs to adapt on the fly.

During Joseph's first year with the team, the Broncos slumped to a 5-11 record, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season. After beginning the campaign 3-1, the Broncos lost eight consecutive games and Joseph is aware he can't afford another mid-season slump.

"You’re going to have adversity in this league,” Joseph said, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. "Every team last year had adversity - even Philly, who won a championship. They lost their tackle, they lost their quarterback, so it’s my job and the coaches’ jobs to fix it quicker. That (is something) we have to do in this league. It’s going to be hard times. It’s not going to be all roses next year. Absolutely, it’s going to be hard times. It’s my job to fix it quicker."

The Broncos still have a defense brimming with talent, led by Von Miller, Chris Harris, Brandon Marshall, and Bradley Roby, and the team appeared to find a temporary solution at quarterback by signing Case Keenum to a two-year, $36-million deal. If plans go awry, however, Joseph will need to have a contingency plan or could see himself looking over his shoulder come January.
