Video reveals how 49ers landed 2 of top 3 players on their draft board

The San Francisco 49ers emerged from the first round of the 2017 draft with Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster, plus a bunch of extra picks, but precisely how it happened hadn't been fully revealed until now.

The MMQB's Peter King and a video crew had inside access to the 49ers' front office for 24 hours on Day 1 of the draft. They captured the moments as the 49ers swung a deal to move back from No. 2 overall to No. 3 and still got their man, Stanford alum Thomas.

The 49ers also managed to get the player they'd ranked third on their draft board. As Alabama linebacker Foster slid due to medical concerns and a failed drug test at the scouting combine, the 49ers traded into the first round to end Foster's fall at No. 31.

As King reports, the 49ers spent two hours trying to trade up for Foster. With seconds to spare on the clock at 31 (and with the New Orleans Saints presumably waiting to pounce on Foster), a deal was struck.

For anyone with an interest in the draft, The MMQB's video is fascinating.
