The Nevada Senate voted in favor to pass a new stadium deal for the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday, Jeff Gillan of NBC 3 Las Vegas reports.
As a result, Nevada's General Assembly will vote on the deal Thursday. The NFL owners will also meet on Thursday, where the Raiders' potential relocation is expected to be a leading topic.
Any potential relocation bid must gain 24 of 32 votes from the league's owners.
Last season, Carson City Council approved a $1.7 billion stadium to be shared between the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders, if both teams were to relocate. However, the NFL opted for a proposal that saw the Rams relocate from St. Louis to Los Angeles without the aid of another party.
If the state's assembly decides to build a stadium for the Raiders, the club is expected to aggressively lobby the NFL for a formal relocation bid.
