Kaepernick started San Francisco's final preseason game, but is expected to be the backup quarterback for Week 1 of the regular season, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reports.
Analysis:
Kaepernick finished the preseason with 117 yards on 13-for-24 passing, adding 56 yards rushing on eight carries. His start was only due to Blaine Gabbert being rested, a decision that in all likelihood means Gabbert is going to be named the starter, though nothing is official yet.
