Report: Harden, Heat have mutual interest; Herro isn't 'untouchable'
The Miami Heat are prepared to pull out all the stops to land Houston Rockets star James Harden.
Miami and the former NBA MVP have expressed mutual interest in a potential deal, sources told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Second-year guard Tyler Herro isn't "untouchable" should talks between the Heat and Rockets reach an advanced stage, Jackson adds.
Houston is reportedly seeking a young franchise cornerstone as well as multiple first-round draft picks and/or young talent on rookie contracts.
Herro played a key role in Miami's run to last season's NBA Finals, averaging 16 points, 5.1 boards, and 3.7 assists over 21 postseason appearances. The 20-year-old's 48 made triples were the most by a rookie in NBA playoffs history.
Sharpshooter Duncan Robinson and guard Kendrick Nunn are other young assets that could be paired with Herro in an offer to the Rockets.
Harden has apparently listed the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Heat as his preferred trade destinations. However, the 76ers have also emerged as the likeliest landing spot for the eight-time All-Star.
