The Boston Red Sox are trying to change the Minnesota Twins' part of a three-team trade that would send star outfielder Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

While there's still hope that the megadeal will be completed, some involved are now suggesting it's not a certainty, according to Heyman.

Prospect Brusdar Graterol's medical review has reportedly caused the delay, as Boston projects the Twins right-hander to be a reliever rather than a starter, which means the team may ask for an additional player and/or money.

The Red Sox are believed to be pursuing a second prospect from the Twins, Heyman added Friday morning.

Boston is asking the Twins for a top-10 prospect, Heyman reports, but Minnesota is continuing to refuse that request.

The trade isn't likely to be finalized any earlier than Friday, reports MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, who adds the sides are making progress and the deal is still more likely to happen than not.

The wait is also holding up a multi-player trade between the Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels that involves outfielder Joc Pederson and right-hander Ross Stripling, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports. The Dodgers won't trade Pederson until they know Betts can replace him in the outfield, Nightengale adds.

An arbitration hearing Thursday involving Pederson is also delaying the trade announcements, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. However, a resolution will likely come within 24 hours of the meeting, according to Rosenthal.

The three-team deal also reportedly includes lefty David Price and cash going to the Dodgers, outfielder Alex Verdugo heading to the Red Sox, and pitcher Kenta Maeda landing with the Twins.

Both trades were first reported Tuesday.
