Terms of the reported three-team blockbuster trade sending Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers could change because of the medical review of Minnesota Twins pitcher Brusdar Graterol, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

After reviewing the medical records of the hard-throwing Twins prospect, the Boston Red Sox project Graterol as a reliever rather than a starter and may ask for an additional player and/or money to bridge the gap, sources told Rosenthal. It is unclear whether the player would come from the Twins or the Dodgers.

Officials for the teams involved are confident the trade will be completed, and the possibility of the deal falling apart remains slim, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Graterol missed a large chunk of the 2019 season with a right shoulder impingement but recovered in time to appear in the American League Division Series for the Twins. He missed the entire 2016 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

The 21-year-old is one of two players set to join the Red Sox following the Dodgers' acquisition of Betts and left-hander David Price. Los Angeles outfielder Alex Verdugo is the other.

Verdugo, 23, has been medically cleared, according to Rosenthal's sources.

The hold-up in the three-team deal could also be delaying a separate trade that would reportedly send Dodgers players Joc Pederson, Ross Stripling, and prospect Andy Pages to the Los Angeles Angels for Luis Rengifo and a prospect, sources told Passan.
