Memphis freshman James Wiseman started Tuesday's showdown against No. 14 Oregon, playing in his second straight game despite being deemed ineligible by the NCAA last week.
The McDonald's All-American was ruled ineligible just hours before the Tigers' second game of the season, but Wiseman was still able to suit up after the school obtained an emergency temporary restraining order.
The NCAA found Hardaway acted as a booster when he gave $11,500 to Wiseman's family to help them move to Memphis from Nashville. The incident occurred before the former NBA pro took the Tigers' head coaching gig.
Wiseman is projected to be a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in next year's NBA draft.
