Report: Ex-Redskins GM McCloughan joins Browns as draft consultant
Former Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan has joined the Cleveland Browns front office as a personnel consultant for the 2018 NFL Draft, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
He reportedly participated in full scouting sessions with the Browns on Saturday, his first day on the job.
McCloughan marks the third major front-office addition by the Browns over the last two months. In December they hired ex-Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey for the same role, and a month later they brought in former Green Bay Packers executive Eliot Wolf to assist him.
McCloughan owns an extensive scouting background and earned widespread praise for his drafting in Washington. He was fired from the Redskins in March 2017 after two years on the job. The team claimed McCloughan was battling alcoholism, but rumors around the league suggested he was dumped because of a power struggle with team president Bruce Allen.
The 46-year-old has been operating his own scouting service since being let go by the Redskins.
