It's official: CC Sabathia is headed back to the Bronx.

The New York Yankees announced Tuesday that the veteran left-hander has re-signed with the club on a one-year contract for 2018, in what will be his 10th season wearing the pinstripes.

Terms weren't disclosed, but it was reported earlier in the month that the contract would be worth $10 million.

Sabathia first joined the Yankees as a free agent before the 2009 season. Over nearly a decade with the club, he's appeared in three All-Star Games and finished in the top four of Cy Young voting three times while compiling a 3.75 ERA and striking out 1,453 batters in 1,657 2/3 innings. He was a critical member of the Yankees' most recent World Series championship club in '09.

Last season, he went 14-5 with a 3.69 ERA, 1.271 WHIP, and 120 strikeouts over 30 starts. He also made four starts in the playoffs, including a nine-strikeout performance in Game 5 of the ALDS against Cleveland.

The 37-year-old reportedly met with both the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels this winter before choosing to return to New York.

Sabathia, the 2007 AL Cy Young Award winner, owns a career ERA of 3.70 with 2,846 strikeouts in 17 big-league seasons. His strikeout total is the third-most among left-handers in baseball history, and the highest among active pitchers.
