Report: Patriots' Bennett expected to be active vs. Broncos

David Butler II / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett is expected to be active for Sunday night's game against the Denver Broncos, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It comes just three days after the team claimed Bennett off waivers from the Green Bay Packers.

Bennett was released with a "failure to disclose physical condition" designation as he reportedly has a torn rotator cuff, though he claims the Packers were aware of his injury.

The veteran tight end would return to the field as a Patriot for the first time since winning Super Bowl LI last February. He had struggled this season with the Packers, making 24 catches for 233 yards with no touchdowns, though was successful with the Patriots last season.
