Report: Texans players plan to protest before Seahawks game
The fallout from Houston Texans owner Bob McNair's "inmates running the prison" comments continued Saturday, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Texans players are planning to protest prior to Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
A league source told Schefter the Texans held a players-only meeting Saturday, and could decide on a number of protest methods, including a team-wide kneel, peeling Texans decals off their helmets, or raising their fists.
It's unknown what specific form of protest they agreed on.
McNair's comments caused immediate backlash, with star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins reportedly taking a personal day because of the remarks. The owner met with players Saturday to express his regret for his choice of words, later releasing a statement apologizing for his actions.
McNair, along with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, were also invited by the Players Coalition to meet in Philadelphia on Monday.
