Players invite Goodell, McNair, Kaepernick to Monday meeting

After Houston Texans owner Bob McNair's comments about "inmates running the prison" caused an uproar throughout the NFL, the Players Coalition has invited McNair, commissioner Roger Goodell, and free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick to meet in Philadelphia on Monday.

The coalition, which consists of about 40 players across the league who regularly discuss criminal justice reform issues and work with communities throughout the country, described the invitation as "an act of good faith" in a letter obtained by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McNair released a statement Saturday saying his comments were meant to refer to the league office's relationship with team owners.

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Russell Okung said prior to McNair's comments that players have been unhappy with the league's actions on social justice reform since their first meeting, and many of them may skip the upcoming meetings.
