Denver Broncos backup quarterback Paxton Lynch will miss "roughly five weeks" with a bruised shoulder, but won't be placed on injured reserve, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The former first-round pick was reportedly set to miss only a few weeks with the injury, so his increased absence likely explains the Broncos' rumored interest in Brock Osweiler.
If signed, Osweiler will likely back up Trevor Siemian during Lynch's absence. Siemian won the starting job over Lynch for the second straight season.
Lynch played in three games during his rookie year, throwing for a total of 497 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
