The Denver Broncos are expected to aggressively pursue Brock Osweiler following his release from the Cleveland Browns on Friday, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Osweiler spent the first four seasons of his career in Denver before an ill-fated, big-money move to the Houston Texans last offseason.
Rapoport added that Denver is his likely landing spot.
Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reported the Broncos are in the process of signing Osweiler; however, ESPN's Adam Schefter said Denver is still working out details and the move isn't yet completed.
It will likely be an awkward homecoming for Osweiler, who rejected the Broncos' extension during the 2016 offseason after being benched for Peyton Manning prior to the team's Super Bowl run and left for Houston.
It's unclear how he'll fit into the team's quarterback picture. Trevor Siemian was named the starter after beating out former first-round pick Paxton Lynch for the second straight season.
Lynch is reportedly expected to miss a few weeks with a shoulder sprain, so Osweiler could fill in as Siemian's backup during his absence to start the campaign.
