Week 30 of the 2016 MLS season saw the Colorado Rapids and the LA Galaxy clinch playoff berths in the Western Conference, while New York City FC, the New York Red Bulls, and Toronto FC continued to compete for the top two spots in the Eastern Conference.

Here's how each team ranks this week:

1. FC Dallas (+1)

  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. Seattle (5 p.m. ET)

2. New York Red Bulls (+2)

  • Last Week: 3-2 win vs. Philadelphia Union
  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. Columbus (3 p.m. ET)

  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 at D.C. United (3 p.m. ET)

New York City FC is enjoying all the success that comes with a star-studded cast of characters clicking and in-form. David Villa is eyeing another prize.

  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 at Montreal (3 p.m. ET)

Toronto FC had the easiest final stretch with four of its final five matches at home and against lesser conference opponents, but blew it each and every time.

6. LA Galaxy (-1)

  • Last Week: 1-0 loss vs. FC Dallas
  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 at Houston (5 p.m. ET)

7. Real Salt Lake (-1)

  • Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. San Jose Earthquakes
  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. Sporting KC (5 p.m. ET)
Record (W-L-D) Goals For Goals Against

Real Salt Lake deserved more, perhaps, out of San Jose. But as it stands, the team is on the cusp of a playoff berth and that's good enough.

8. Seattle Sounders (+2)

  • Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Vancouver, 1-0 win vs. Chicago
  • Next MLS Match: Wednesday, Oct. 12 vs. Houston (10:30 p.m. ET)

11. Sporting Kansas City (-2)

  • Last Week: 3-1 loss vs. New England Revolution
  • Next MLS Match: Saturday, Oct. 1 at New England (7:30 p.m. ET)
Record (W-L-D) Goals For Goals Against
12-13-7 40 41

Sporting Kansas City needed a win over New England to help separate itself from the narrow crowd that now surrounds the team on either side of the table.

12. D.C. United (-)

  • Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Toronto, 3-0 win vs. Columbus
  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. NYCFC (3 p.m. ET)

  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. Colorado (5 p.m. ET)
Record (W-L-D) Goals For Goals Against
11-13-8 46 49

The Portland Timbers are about to make history as one of two MLS Cup finalists not to make the postseason in the following year. Ouch.

15. Vancouver Whitecaps (-1)

  • Last Week: 2-1 loss vs. Seattle Sounders
  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 at San Jose (5 p.m. ET)
Record (W-L-D) Goals For Goals Against
9-15-8 41 51

The Vancouver Whitecaps have two great young players in Kekuta Manneh and Alphonso Davies but little else and new Designated Players are needed.

16. San Jose Earthquakes (-)

  • Last Week: 2-1 win vs. Real Salt Lake, 3-1 loss vs. Montreal
  • Next MLS Match: Thursday, Oct. 13 at Colorado (9 p.m. ET)

  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 at NY Red Bulls (3 p.m. ET)

19. Orlando City (-)

  • Last Week: 1-0 loss vs. Montreal, 0-0 draw vs. Toronto
  • Next MLS Match: Sunday, Oct. 16 at Philadelphia (3 p.m. ET)
Record (W-L-D) Goals For Goals Against
7-11-14 49 58

A bit better for Orlando City, though when the measure is only losing by one goal instead of four, that's not saying much.

20. Chicago Fire (-)

  • Last Week: 3-0 loss vs. Columbus, 1-0 loss vs. Seattle
  • Next MLS Match: Thursday, Oct. 13 vs. Columbus (8:30 p.m. ET)
