The case against Florida wide receiver Chris Thompson for alleged misdemeanor simple battery has been closed due to insufficient evidence, according to Alachua County court records obtained by Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports.
The court records indicate that the case was closed Monday.
Thompson was excused from the team while he dealt with the incident, causing him to miss the final week of spring practice as well as the team's spring game.
He had been expected to compete for a starting job at receiver as a junior prior to the incident.
