Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian didn't hold back when asked about his feelings toward receiver Parker Livingstone following his transfer to Oklahoma this offseason.
"I hope we kick his ass," Sarkisian said Thursday at SEC Media Days, according to WVTM 13 News. "It's the Red River Rivalry, you know what I mean? He chose to go there. He's on the other side. It's the way the game goes."
Livingstone spent two seasons with the Longhorns after arriving as a four-star commit in 2024. Last year, he finished fourth on the team in catches (29), third in receiving yards (516), and second in receiving touchdowns (six).
The redshirt sophomore is expected to be a key contributor to an improved Sooners offense. During the offseason, Oklahoma added Virginia transfer Trell Harris to a receiving corps that returns last year's leading wideout, Isaiah Sategna III.
Livingstone was among several Texas players who transferred elsewhere this spring, including Quintrevion Wisner, CJ Baxter, and DeAndre Moore Jr.
Sarkisian said Thursday that the program had to make difficult roster decisions to surround quarterback Arch Manning with talented playmakers. The Longhorns added several high-profile transfers, headlined by Cam Coleman, Hollywood Smothers, and Raleek Brown.
"We had to let some pretty good players leave to create the cap space to bring those guys in," Sarkisian said, according to On3's Daniel Hager. "I think, strategically, there were some tough decisions to make. But we made them. I think we all can agree that we're probably better around Arch today than we were a year ago at this time."
Texas will square off against Livingstone and Oklahoma in the next edition of the Red River Rivalry on Oct. 10 at the Cotton Bowl.
