Oklahoma made a splash on Saturday, landing the commitment from highly touted tight end Davon Mitchell.
The four-star recruit also announced that he's reclassifying from 2025 to the 2024 class, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder is the No. 1 hybrid tight end and 19th overall recruit in 2025 on ESPN Jr. 300.
The California native picked the Sooners over Miami and Alabama.
"It was really hard," Mitchell said of his decision, according to 247Sports' Greg Biggins. "On Friday, I had it down to Miami and Oklahoma and really liked both schools a lot for a lot of the same reasons.
"I wanted to find a school where they throw the ball to the tight end, where I had a good connection with the coaching staff, and where I felt comfortable with the players and the campus, and in the end, I just felt like OU was the best option for me."
