UNLV hired Bobby Petrino as its offensive coordinator, the program announced Thursday.
Petrino is returning to the FBS level under new Rebels coach Barry Odom after three seasons as Missouri State's head coach. He compiled an impressive 119-56 mark between stints at the top level as head coach at Western Kentucky, Louisville, and Arkansas.
The 61-year-old also talked with Texas A&M, among other teams, according to ESPN's Chris Low.
The Bears have gone 18-15 across Petrino's three seasons at the helm.
It'll be Petrino's first time serving as an offensive coach since 2002 with Auburn.
Petrino's time with Arkansas ended in controversy after a promising start. The university fired him in April 2012 after it was revealed he was having an affair with a 25-year-old staffer following a motorcycle crash involving the two earlier that month. Petrino initially told the school and reporters that he was alone.
