LSU's Stingley out indefinitely after foot surgery
LSU cornerback Derek Stingley is out indefinitely after undergoing foot surgery, the team announced Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.
"I'm doing all that I can to return to the field as soon as possible," Stingley said. "I want to finish out the season with my teammates and I will do everything I can to get healthy."
Stingley injured his foot in practice near the end of September and has already missed two games as a result. The junior has been one of the country's top cornerbacks since he arrived at LSU, earning an All-American nod as a freshman in 2019 while helping the Tigers capture the national title.
Stingley posted 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in three appearances this season. He had five pass breakups in an abbreviated 2020 campaign and notched six interceptions with 21 pass breakups in 2019.
The Baton Rouge native is projected to be a future top-10 pick in the NFL draft.
