LSU has hired Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz as its new offensive coordinator, the team announced Wednesday.
Peetz spent the 2020 season working with former LSU coordinator Joe Brady in Carolina. Brady, who commanded the Tigers' offense during their national title run, served as Carolina's offensive coordinator this season.
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron told WNXX-FM's "Off the Bench" that one of his special assistants was in contact with Brady to help identify candidates for the job, according to Brooks Kubena of The Advocate.
Orgeron's staff has undergone many changes since the conclusion of a disappointing 2020 campaign, with coordinators on both sides of the ball departing the program. One year after winning the national championship, the Tigers limped to a 5-5 record.
Peetz has worked as a quarterbacks coach with numerous NFL teams over the years and also served as an offensive analyst with Alabama in 2018.
