Report: Southern Miss hiring Tulane OC Hall as new head coach
Southern Miss has finalized a deal to hire Tulane offensive coordinator Will Hall as its next head coach, sources told Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.
Hall - who's long been considered the favorite for the job - reportedly met with Southern Miss officials for the final time Monday night and intends to inform Green Wave players of the move after practice Wednesday.
The 40-year-old is the son of legendary Mississippi high school coach Bobby Hall.
He brings substantial head coaching experience to the Golden Eagles after serving in that role at both West Alabama (2011-13) and West Georgia (2014-16).
Southern Miss has cycled through three head coaches this season. Jay Hopson resigned after the season opener and was replaced on an interim basis by co-offensive coordinator Scotty Walden. Walden was hired by Austin Peay in October, leaving assistant head coach Tim Billings in charge.
The Golden Eagles own a 2-7 record on the campaign.
