Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders suffered a lower-extremity injury during Saturday's game against Tulsa, according to Scott Wright of The Oklahoman.

Sanders limped off the field to the locker room late in the first quarter after just three pass attempts and didn't return to the game.

The sophomore quarterback was named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2019 after completing 62.8% of his pass attempts for 2,065 yards and 16 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 628 yards and two scores.

Junior college transfer Ethan Bullock took over under center in Sanders' absence but was replaced by third-string quarterback Shane Illingworth in the third quarter after failing to put his team on the board.

Illingworth completed four of his five pass attempts for 74 yards, saving Oklahoma State from a major upset with a 16-7 victory.
