Every week, we'll go over some betting trends that apply to the college football slate. Here's what's on tap for Week 8:
Here's a tip: When TCU is favored on the road, look at the first-half under. The Horned Frogs have gone under the total in the first half in each of the last eight in this spot, with an average combined first-half score of 18.6 points per game.
Trend play: First half under 22.5
Fresno State's been able to clamp down on opposing defenses when laying chalk. Over the past 11 games, the Bulldogs are 10-1 to the under when they're favored. Additionally, opponents' team total unders are also 8-3 over that stretch.
Trend plays: Under 54 and UNLV team total under ~19.5
Clemson's seen its fair share of high-scoring games when the Tigers are large favorites on the road. In fact, they're currently on a 17-6 run to the over when they're double-digit favorites away from home. They face a Louisville team fresh off a 62-59 shootout win over Wake Forest.
Trend play: Over 61.5
Eastern Michigan's currently slumping. The Eagles enter Week 8 coming off consecutive straight-up losses and have dropped their last three against the spread. But head coach Chris Creighton has historically been able to bounce back, going 12-3 ATS following a game in which the Eagles failed to cover the number.
Trend play: Eastern Michigan +8.5
Bowling Green continues to be one of the best under teams in the country. After last week's game against Toledo flew under the total by a mile, the Falcons are currently on a 10-1 run to the total over their last 11.
Trend play: Under 54.5
Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald padded his record as an underdog in Week 6 when the Wildcats covered +7.5 at Nebraska. Fitzgerald is now 15-4-1 ATS when getting points, and he's getting a boatload of them when Ohio State comes to town on Friday.
Trend play: Northwestern +28
Need a play for the nightcap when Air Force meets Hawaii at 11:00 ET? Bet the over when the Falcons are road favorites. They've cashed this angle in 10 of the last 11 and should be in for more fireworks against the Rainbow Warriors' run-and-shoot offense.
