One of the biggest rivalries in college football will continue for the foreseeable future.

BYU and Utah announced Thursday that the Holy War will continue at least through the 2022 season. The series was originally slated to end in 2019, but the programs added an additional two games.

"BYU-Utah is one of the great college rivalries in the country. There’s a lot of history and tradition between the two schools and I’m glad we were able to extend the series through 2022," BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe said. "I’ve loved this rivalry as a player, coach and administrator, and look forward to the future games."

The series dates back all the way to 1922 and the Utes own a 56-31-4 edge in the series. Utah also won the latest installment of the rivalry 20-19 earlier this year.
