DeMarcus Henry, the No. 2 overall recruit on the ESPN 100 for 2027, committed to North Carolina, he announced Tuesday on "NBA Today."
Henry chose the Tar Heels over Kentucky, Louisville, and Arkansas.
The five-star recruit is the top-ranked small forward in next year's recruiting class. He is North Carolina's highest-ranked commit since Cole Anthony in 2019, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi.
"Their vision for me fits exactly what I'm looking for," Henry told Borzello and Biancardi. "Coach (Michael) Malone and I are like-minded. He constantly emphasizes chasing greatness, and I really like his winning mentality.
"He won an NBA championship at the highest level with the best players in the world, and I want to learn from him."
Henry averaged 24 points during his junior year at AZ Compass Prep. The 6-foot-7 forward represented the United States at last summer's FIBA U18 AmeriCup.
Henry is the son of the late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, who played five seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals. His brother, Chris Jr., is currently a freshman at Ohio State and was the No. 1 receiver in his recruiting class.
