North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson underwent season-ending surgery after breaking his right thumb in a non-contact drill in practice Thursday, the school announced.

Wilson is expected to be cleared during the NBA pre-draft process, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

The freshman, who projects to be a top-five pick in June's draft, had already been sidelined with a fractured left hand since mid-February.

Wilson, 19, averaged 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season for the Tar Heels.
