Kansas lands 5-star recruit Taylen Kinney
Five-star recruit Taylen Kinney committed to Kansas, he announced Sunday on social media.
Kinney is the fourth-ranked point guard and 17th overall recruit in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-2 floor general chose the Jayhawks over Oregon, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisville, and Kentucky.
It's the second straight year that Bill Self's program has landed a five-star point guard. Darryn Peterson, the potential No. 1 overall pick in next year's NBA draft, is expected to start for Kansas this season.
"I just felt like it's a great fit for me," Kinney told 247Sports' Travis Branham. "Bill Self's background is great. They won the Big 12 championship 14 years in a row, two national championships, and have over 30 pros.
"He's a winner. He knows how to get guys to the league. He is going to do special things with (Peterson), and then I am going to come in next and do something special."
Kinney spent last season with Overtime Elite, averaging 20.1 points, five assists, and four boards. He's noted for his three-level scoring and above-average on-ball defense.
