Aziz Olajuwon, son of Hakeem, commits to Stanford
Aziz Olajuwon, the son of Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon, committed to Stanford, he told ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi.
Olajuwon is a four-star prospect and the No. 40 overall recruit on the ESPN 100 for 2026. The 6-foot-7 forward chose the Cardinal over Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, and his father's alma mater, Houston.
"I chose Stanford because the coaching staff made it clear they are about me, not just as an athlete, but as a person," Olajuwon told Borzello and Biancardi. "That meant a lot in the process."
Olajuwon joins fellow four-star prospect Isaiah Rogers in Stanford's 2026 recruiting class.
The 18-year-old averaged 16.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists across 19 appearances on the Nike EYBL circuit earlier this year.
Olajuwon also suited up for Canada over the summer at the FIBA U19 World Cup, tallying 7.6 points in 14.4 minutes. He was born in Toronto, and his mother is Canadian.
Stanford hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2014, but it finished 21-14 last season during its first year under ex-Washington State head coach Kyle Smith.
"Coach Smith and really the whole staff are people who really invest in their players, on and off the court," said Olajuwon. "Their passion, leadership, and ability to connect with the teams made a huge impression on me.
"The visit felt like a real day in the life, not just a tour. I got to experience the campus, the people, and the culture in an authentic way, and it just felt right."
