Duke star Cooper Flagg won this year's Wooden Award as the most outstanding men's college basketball player.

Flagg beat out Auburn's Johni Broome, Florida's Walter Clayton Jr., Alabama's Mark Sears, and Purdue's Braden Smith for the prestigious honor.

Only 178 points separated Flagg and runner-up Broome in the final voting.

The 6-foot-9 forward joins Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Zion Williamson as the only freshmen ever to win the Wooden Award.

Flagg already earned consensus All-American first-team honors, ACC Player of the Year, and an All-ACC first-team selection.

He averaged 18.9 points, 7.5 boards, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks over 36 appearances this season. The 18-year-old led the Blue Devils in all five of those categories.

Flagg broke the ACC single-game scoring record by a freshman earlier this season, dropping 42 points in a win over Notre Dame.

He's widely projected to go No. 1 overall in the upcoming NBA draft. Flagg is attempting to lead Duke to its first national championship since 2015.
