Eric Gordon done for season following finger surgery

New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Eric Gordon underwent successful surgery on his fractured right ring finger Tuesday, and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced.
It's the second time Gordon has had the finger repaired in 2016. He initially broke it in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jan. 19, and subsequently missed 16 contests.
He returned to play just four games before re-fracturing it while trying to poke the ball away from Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert on Saturday.
Before suffering the initial injury, Gordon had played every game of the 2015-16 campaign, but the consecutive setbacks mean he'll play his seventh straight season without cracking the 65-game plateau. And thus, in all likelihood, ends his largely disappointing Pelicans career, which saw him play just 221 of a possible 394 games across five seasons.
The 27-year-old, who will be a free agent in the summer, posted his highest true shooting percentage (56.5) this season since coming to New Orleans from the Los Angeles Clippers as part of the Chris Paul trade in 2011.
He'd been particularly sharp in his brief return from the first finger fracture, averaging 18.8 points (24.4 per 36 minutes) while shooting 51 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range.
