Wizards' Nene leaves game vs. Celtics with calf strain
Brad Mills / USA TODAY Sports
Washington Wizards power forward Nene left Friday's game against the Boston Celtics due a strained left calf.
He will not return to the game, the team confirmed.
At the 3:46 mark in the first quarter, the 33-year-old Brazilian tried to commit a foul - pushing Jonas Jerebko out of bounds as the Celtics ran the fastbreak.
The refs missed Nene's attempts to stop the game.
On the next Wizards' possession, however, he was able to get the refs attention with a purposeful foul on Jae Crowder.
Nene then headed straight toward his team's locker room, bypassing the Wizards' bench altogether.
The oft-injured big man - who has played a full 82-game slate only once in his 14-year career - missed one game earlier this season due to back issues.
