The Denver Nuggets intend to sign DeMar DeRozan, bolstering their wing depth after trading restricted free agent Peyton Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers, reports Amazon Prime's Chris Haynes.
DeRozan, 37, is expected to ink a one-year, $3.9-million contract with Denver, reports ESPN's Shams Charania.
The Sacramento Kings waived the six-time All-Star in July after he averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in 77 games last season. DeRozan ranks 16th on the NBA's all-time scoring list and sits fourth among active players with 26,711 points.
The Nuggets dealt Watson to Cleveland earlier this week as part of a sign-and-trade involving five teams. In return, Denver received Cleveland's unprotected first-round pick in 2031 and a second-rounder in 2032 via the Sacramento Kings. Watson, a restricted free agent, signed a four-year, $88-million deal with the Cavaliers, which the Nuggets would have been unable to match after re-signing fellow RFA Spencer Jones.
