The Golden State Warriors are re-signing guard Gary Payton II on a one-year, $3.9-million contract, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

The 33-year-old averaged a career-high 7.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 58.3% shooting in 73 appearances last season.

Payton returns for his fifth successive campaign in Golden State after being acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers in February 2023. The Oregon State product only made 15 appearances for the Blazers after joining them in free agency following his first spell with the Warriors.

The veteran guard returns to an experienced core under the tutelage of Steve Kerr that includes Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, and Kristaps Porzingis.
