The Boston Celtics signed center Mitchell Robinson to a three-year, $47.4-million contract with a player option for the third season, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Robinson gives the Celtics some much-needed depth behind starting center Neemias Queta following the recent departure of veteran Nikola Vucevic.
The New York Knicks selected Robinson with the No. 36 overall pick in 2018. He spent the first eight years of his career in the Big Apple, averaging 7.5 points, eight boards, and 1.7 blocks across 397 appearances.
Robinson, 28, has battled injuries throughout his career but is coming off one of his healthiest campaigns. The 7-footer was effective for New York in a backup role, tallying 5.7 points, 8.8 boards, and 1.2 blocks in 19.6 minutes over 60 games.
Robinson was also second in the Association with 4.2 offensive rebounds per contest. His 2% steal percentage ranked in the 95th percentile among big men, per Cleaning the Glass.
Boston signed veteran guard Mike Conley to a one-year contract earlier Wednesday.
