Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis underwent season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

Sabonis suffered the injury in November and had been playing through it once he came back. He missed 27 games earlier in the season before returning to the lineup for eight contests in January and early February. The three-time All-Star averaged 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 19 appearances in 2025-26.

Sacramento guard Zach LaVine is set to miss the remainder of the season as well. Sources told Charania the two-time All-Star was also undergoing surgery Wednesday to repair a tendon injury in his hand.

"It just makes it tough. You feel for Zach, you feel for Domas," Kings head coach Doug Christie said Wednesday, according to ESPN 1320's James Ham.

Sacramento explored the trade market for LaVine and Sabonis prior to the deadline but couldn't reach a deal, reports ESPN's Anthony Slater. General manager Scott Perry is expected to attempt to trade the pair again this summer.

The Kings (12-44) sit at the bottom of the Western Conference following the All-Star break.
