Kuminga returns to Warriors on 2-year, $48.5M deal
Forward Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $48.5-million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors, his agent, Aaron Turner, told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The deal, which ends a long stalemate between the two sides, includes a team option designed for the contract to be renegotiated next summer.
Kuminga was a restricted free agent but wasn't able to reach an agreement with Golden State for several months. He reportedly explored a sign-and-trade with at least two teams.
The 22-year-old received a three-year, $75-million offer from the Warriors, but he chose a two-year deal to have more control over his immediate future, according to Charania. Both sides are aware of the possibility of a trade when Kuminga becomes eligible to be moved Jan. 15.
Kuminga posted 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 47 appearances in 2024-25. He missed extended time due to an ankle injury.
Kuminga averaged more than 20 minutes per game during the regular season, though his playing time dropped significantly in the first round of the playoffs. He saw his minutes increase again in the Western Conference semifinals after an injury sidelined Stephen Curry.
It's been a busy week for the Warriors, who also signed center Al Horford and guard Seth Curry and re-signed guard Gary Payton II.
