Lakers sign coach Redick to extension
The Los Angeles Lakers extended head coach JJ Redick's contract ahead of the 2025-26 season, general manager Rob Pelinka announced Thursday.
"(The extension) makes it clear that he's the basketball leader in terms of our coaching and on-court performance," Pelinka said, according to Mark Medina of Sports Central LA.
The terms of Redick's new deal have yet to be announced.
The 41-year-old joined the Lakers as head coach last season and helped Los Angeles post a 50-32 record, the third-best in the Western Conference. However, L.A. fell short in the playoffs, suffering a first-round loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.
It's been a busy offseason for the Lakers, who extended Luka Doncic and addressed needs by signing Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart, among other moves.
