Top 20 players at FIBA EuroBasket 2025
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 gets underway Wednesday, as 24 nations kick off group play across host cities in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia. Click here to view the schedule and results.
With the NBA boasting more international talent than ever before, many of the league's biggest names will participate in the tournament.
Taking into account their contributions in international competition and their professional performances, here's a look at the top 20 players at EuroBasket 2025:
Serbia enters as the favorites, and Jokic is a big reason why. He was the country's best player at EuroBasket 2022, averaging 21.7 points, 10.0 boards, and 4.3 assists while shooting 46.2% from deep across six contests. After a shock upset against Italy in the quarterfinals last time out, Jokic will look to guide FIBA's No. 2-ranked team to the gold-medal game in Riga, Latvia.
Three years removed from leading EuroBasket 2022 in scoring with 29.3 points per game and earning an All-Tournament team spot, Antetokounmpo returns looking to lead Greece to its third gold medal and first since 2005. Fans will hope Antetokounmpo can hit the ground running after he reportedly missed Greece's first three tournament tuneups due to an insurance-related issue.
Fresh off signing a three-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, a suddenly lean Doncic now leads a Slovenian side he helped guide to a EuroBasket title in 2017 when he was just an 18-year-old emerging superstar. If a recent exhibition game versus Germany is any indication, a slimmer and quicker Doncic is already paying dividends.
Wagner will be the focal point of a German side that has excelled in recent international competitions, following a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2022, a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and a fourth-place finish at the 2024 Olympics. Wagner recorded 18 points in just 17 minutes in the exhibition against Slovenia, signalling that he's in mid-season form.
Houston Rockets All-Star Sengun will look to carry over his breakout NBA success as he leads Turkey into EuroBasket 2025. The 23-year-old starred at the 2022 tourney, topping the team in points (16.8) and rebounds (8.2). With lofty goals heading into this year's competition, Sengun is optimistic about Turkey's chances: "I believe we can win a medal," he told FIBA's website in early August.
Markkanen is poised for his third EuroBasket as the star fulcrum of a Finland squad looking to turn heads in front of home support in Tampere. The Utah Jazz big appears to be in excellent form following an NBA campaign blighted by injuries, pouring in an international-career-high 48 points in a 105–62 exhibition victory over Belgium on Aug. 8.
With the tournament final set for Latvia's capital and Porzingis healthy after an NBA season disrupted by leg surgery and a mystery illness, all eyes will be on the Atlanta Hawks newcomer. Porzingis made his senior debut at EuroBasket 2017, averaging an astonishing 23.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks.
Montenegro may be a basketball minnow compared to other former Yugoslavian states, but Vucevic will hope to guide the small Balkan nation to glory in what will be his final international tournament. The Chicago Bulls center is the nation's all-time leading scorer and has represented his country at the EuroBasket tournaments in 2011, 2013, and 2017.
There are two Schroders. One is a journeyman NBA point guard who contributes as a veteran presence; the other is a merciless monster when sporting German colors. The latter engineered Germany's gold-medal run at the 2023 FIBA World Cup before replicating that form at the 2024 Olympics, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team.
He's so nice they named him twice - a perfect tribute to Bogdanovic's impact on the international stage. A star for Serbia since EuroBasket 2013, the Los Angeles Clippers guard is set to suit up for the fourth time at the tournament after missing out in 2022 due to injury. Bogdanovic solidified his legacy at the 2024 Olympics, surpassing Milos Teodosic to become the nation's all-time leading scorer.
Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija has made his priorities clear this summer, telling FIBA's website: "I want to put the NBA aside as the Israel National Team is first and foremost at the moment." Avdija recorded career highs in points (16.9), rebounds (7.3), and assists (3.9) with Portland last season and is the key offensive weapon for Israel at EuroBasket 2025.
With Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert, and Evan Fournier all missing out, Risacher is among an emerging core of French talent to take center stage at this year's EuroBasket. Risacher, the first overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, will have an opportunity to make his mark in his first major tournament for France's men's senior national team.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Aldama has emerged as the centerpiece of Sergio Scarialo's young Spanish outfit, which is looking to replicate its victory at EuroBasket 2022 - La Roja's fourth win at the tournament in its last six attempts. This year's team is even younger and less experienced than the last one and will look to the versatile Aldama for help at both ends of the floor.
France's squad features a mix of emerging stars and veterans, though it's short on star power compared to past teams. Yabusele highlights the veterans, and his place here is a testament to his displays at the 2024 Olympics. Yabusele starred in wins over Canada and Germany before a famous poster dunk on LeBron James in the gold-medal game helped key his NBA return.
Washington Wizards big man and 2025 NBA All-Rookie first-team selection Sarr is appearing in his first major senior international tournament for France at EuroBasket 2025. Expect Sarr to play a major role after a strong performance for Les Bleus in his senior debut in a tourney tuneup victory over Montenegro in early August.
Approaching the tail end of his NBA career following a trade to the Denver Nuggets, Valanciunas will again be the focal point for Lithuania with Domantas Sabonis and Matas Buzelis unavailable. The 33-year-old has played in the last five EuroBaskets since his debut in 2011, helping guide the Baltic Giants to silver medals in 2013 and 2015.
Like Risacher and Wizards teammate Sarr, the 21-year-old Coulibaly is a member of the next generation of French stars who can stake a claim to their respective spots in Frederic Fauthoux's rotation. A hamstring injury ruled Sarr out for the final 19 games of his second NBA campaign, but his participation in pre-tournament exhibition contests is a good sign.
One of only two non-current NBA players on this list, Barcelona center Hernangomez is no stranger to leading a team to EuroBasket glory, having done precisely that at the 2022 edition to earn tournament MVP honors. Now 31, he remains a vital piece of Spain's team in 2025, providing an essential veteran presence to a young squad.
Wizards stretch-five Vukcevic is likely to start alongside Jokic and Nikola Jovic in Serbia's frontcourt. His ability to shoot from mid-range and behind the arc will help space the floor, and the 22-year-old should get plenty of chances to create his own offense as opponents focus on Jokic. Surprisingly nimble for a 7-footer, Vukcevic can also get buckets in transition.
Going a bit off the board here. For North American fans, Goga Bitadze and Sandro Mamukelashvili will be the more recognizable names, but Shengelia is the heart and soul of this Georgia team. Even at 33, Shengelia is still a threat, earning a long-term deal with Barcelona after he shot 36% from deep at Virtus Bologna. He's also been lights out in EuroBasket qualifiers.
