76ers' George undergoes knee procedure after workout injury
Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee Monday to treat an injury suffered during a recent workout, a team official told ESPN's Shams Charania.
George will be re-evaluated at some point before the start of training camp, Charania adds.
The injury didn't involve any major ligaments, a source told Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports.
Staying healthy has been an issue for George, whose first season in Philly ended prematurely due to multiple injuries, including a knee issue. The 35-year-old played in 41 games during a disappointing 2024-25 campaign, averaging 16.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds.
The nine-time All-Star signed a four-year, $212-million contract with Philadelphia in 2024, joining a promising 76ers team led by Joel Embiid. However, injuries devastated Philly's 2024-25 season, as Embiid and Tyrese Maxey also missed extended time, contributing to the team's 24-58 record.
