Georgetown center Thomas Sorber was picked 15th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Sorber spent one season with the Hoyas despite not being originally seen as a one-and-done collegiate player. He impressed early, helping guide Georgetown to its best season since 2019. Sorber's campaign ended in February due to a foot injury, but he was still named to the All-Big East third team.

A stout interior defender, Sorber used his mobility and wingspan to force opponents into bad shots around the rim or to outright block the ball. The 19-year-old came away with 1.5 steals per game, playing the passing lanes while remaining in the paint. Offensively, Sorber finished plays in the pick-and-roll with a variety of post moves or dunks, and he also demonstrated good fundamentals while posting up.

NBA comparison: Nene. While injuries limited him during his career, Nene was a crafty big man who tricked opponents with his arsenal of post moves and sneaky athleticism. The Brazilian big man thrived playing both power forward and center, an outcome also possible for the incoming rookie. Sorber can outperform this projection if he develops a consistent shot from three.
