The locker that Kobe Bryant used for most of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers has made its way to auction.
Sotheby's is auctioning off Bryant's Staples Center locker, which has been photo-matched from 2004 to the Lakers legend's final NBA season in 2016. The locker was slated to be destroyed following the renovation of the Staples Center in 2018, but someone involved with the project saved it, according to the auction house.
Bidding on the locker opened Monday and will run until Aug. 22. It's expected to fetch upward of $1 million.
"In keeping with Kobe Bryant's legacy of philanthropy and community impact, a portion of the proceeds from the sale will directly benefit The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation," Sotheby's told TMZ Sports.
The current record for the most expensive piece of Bryant memorabilia sold at auction is $5.8 million, which was set earlier this year by a game-worn jersey from his 2007-08 MVP season.
