Report: Amazon nearing deal to acquire NBA broadcast rights
The NBA and Amazon Prime Video are finalizing a deal to make the streaming service one of the primary broadcasters for the league's games, reports The Athletic's Andrew Marchand.
The contract is expected to allow Amazon to show marquee regular-season and playoff contests, including the possibility of conference finals games, Marchand adds.
Amazon's pact with the Association is anticipated to last at least a decade, beginning with the 2025-26 campaign, per Marchand.
ESPN is also reportedly close to completing a broadcast deal with the NBA that'll run for at least 10 years and ensure the Finals remain on ABC for the duration of the agreement.
With Amazon and ESPN apparently nearing deals with the league, the last allotment of games will likely come down to Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns TNT Sports, and NBC-owned Comcast.
The NBA's current nine-year deal with ESPN and TNT Sports expires next season.
