The Los Angeles Lakers are discussing a potential three-way blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

In the reported negotiations, guard D'Angelo Russell would head to the Lakers alongside Jazz swingman Malik Beasley. Point guard Russell Westbrook would be moved to Utah along with draft compensation, while veteran point guard Mike Conley plus picks would be directed to the Timberwolves.

If it comes to fruition, the move would mark a return home for Russell, who the Lakers drafted second overall in 2015. He played two seasons with the franchise before being shipped to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017.

Meanwhile, the Jazz would likely buy out Westbrook's contract following the proposed trade, sources told The Athletic's Chris Haynes. The nine-time All-Star and two-time scoring champion is earning $47.1 million this season, according to Spotrac.

Westbrook, who reportedly had a heated verbal exchange with head coach Darvin Ham at halftime of the Lakers' loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, has taken up a full-time bench role for the first time in his career. He's averaging 15.9 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.2 rebounds in 28.7 minutes per game this season.

Los Angeles and Utah have reportedly been frequent negotiators ahead of Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline. Reports emerged Tuesday stating that the Lakers were discussing a possible move with the Jazz involving their remaining two trade-eligible first-rounders in a somewhat similar deal that did not include Minnesota.
