Morant aiming to become billionaire by age 30
Ja Morant has lofty goals for his financial future.
The Memphis Grizzlies star told Forbes' Jabari Young that he's looking to join the exclusive athlete billionaire club by the time he turns 30 years old.
"Me and my mom started a saying right after the season: 'Be a billionaire by 30,'" Morant said. "That's my goal. So I have seven years."
Michael Jordan and LeBron James are currently the only NBA players to have accumulated a net worth of $1 billion. Jordan didn't achieve billionaire status until 2014, more than a decade after his playing career ended, while James reached the milestone earlier this year.
Morant signed a five-year, $193-million extension with the Grizzlies in July that could be worth up to $231 million. The 23-year-old also has sponsorship deals with companies like Panini and Beats By Dre and is set to release his first signature sneaker, the Nike Ja 1, in 2023.
