The Golden State Warriors are seriously considering disciplinary action toward Draymond Green after the four-time All-Star got into a physical altercation Wednesday with teammate Jordan Poole, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Anthony Slater.

Green forcefully struck Poole after a heated interaction during practice, and the two were then separated swiftly, add Charania and Slater.

Poole and Green were reportedly pushing and shoving each other before the latter escalated the incident.

The practice was halted following the skirmish.

The tension between Poole and Green had been brewing since the beginning of training camp, Yahoo Sports' Vincent Goodwill reports.

Green's decision to punch Poole was partly due to their respective contract situations, adds Goodwill. Both players are extension eligible, but it appears only Poole will be receiving a new deal.

Poole has acted professionally throughout training camp as contract negotiations between both sides continue, sources told Goodwill. Teammates have noticed that change in behavior, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Green recently expressed his doubts regarding an extension during the Warriors' media day. The former Defensive Player of the Year can test the market next offseason if he declines his $27.5-million player option for 2023-24. Green apparently believes he's earned a max extension.

Meanwhile, Poole is eligible for a five-year, $186-million rookie extension until Oct. 17, which would kick in following the 2022-23 campaign. The 23-year-old would become a restricted free agent next summer if the two sides can't strike a deal beforehand.

Poole was a key part of the Warriors' championship run last season. The fourth-year reserve averaged 17 points on 50.8% shooting - including a 39.1% mark from deep - across 22 playoff appearances.
