Spike Lee has a new project in the works about the New York Knicks.

The acclaimed director/producer and Knicks superfan told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News that he's working on a documentary series based on the book "Blood in the Garden."

"It's not a rumor," Lee said Tuesday at the opening of the Jackie Robinson Museum in New York.

"Blood in the Garden" is a New York Times bestseller by Chris Herring that chronicles the history of the 1990s Knicks.

"Herring delves into the origin, evolution, and eventual demise of the iconic club. He takes us inside the locker room, executive boardrooms, and onto the court for the key moments that lifted the club to new heights and the ones that threatened to send everything crashing down in spectacular fashion," a description of the book from Simon and Schuster reads.

Lee didn't provide any additional details about the series.
