Report: 76ers pursuing Heat vet Tucker, could offer 3-year deal

The Philadelphia 76ers are pursuing Miami Heat forward P.J. Tucker, sources told Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Philadelphia reportedly intends to offer Tucker a three-year, $30-million contract, and there's apparent interest on both sides, adds Pompey.

76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has a pre-existing relationship with Tucker dating back to their time with the Houston Rockets.

Philadelphia is already reportedly gauging the trade market for multiple key rotational pieces, including Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle. Moving either player would create more financial flexibility for the club.

Tucker apparently declined his $7.4-million player option for the 2022-23 season. The veteran averaged 7.6 points and shot a career-high 41.5% from deep last season. He was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks' 2021 championship run.

Philadelphia appears to be prioritizing 3-point shooting and defense this offseason as the franchise has also been linked to Rockets guard Eric Gordon.
