Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart is questionable for Tuesday's Eastern Conference finals opener against the Miami Heat after sustaining a midfoot sprain in Game 7 against the Milwaukee Bucks, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka said, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
The Celtics are hopeful Smart will play after he underwent an MRI on his right foot Monday that returned clean, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, citing sources.
Smart played 37 minutes in Boston's Game 7 win over Milwaukee and finished three rebounds shy of a triple-double with 11 points and 10 assists. While he missed Game 2 of the series due to a right thigh contusion, the Defensive Player of the Year averaged 14 points, 5.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1 steal, and shot 39.4% on 5.5 attempts from deep per game against the Bucks.
Meanwhile, the Heat will be without their own veteran guard Tuesday. Six-time All-Star Kyle Lowry was ruled out of Game 1 due to his lingering hamstring issue. The 36-year-old has already missed six of Miami's 11 playoff tilts, including their last two against the Philadelphia 76ers.
